Technology Integration Tools

21st century learners thrive when the tools available in the classroom mirror those used in authentic daily learning environments. Take for example blogs, wikis, podcasting and regular old fashion email. Students use each of these tools as easily as they use a fork or spoon at dinner or a cell phone to communicate or an iPOD to tailor their listening pleasures.

Are you aware that many of these tools are available for APS teachers to use as part of their lessons and with their students.

What is available and who should I contact for access and training.

Every Child is a Reader

When children learn to read, they open wide a kind of magic door to the world. For many kids, the key to learning to read is a teacher who understands what children with different learning strengths, motivation, and background knowledge need in order to become enthusiastic, independent readers. Rather than a “one-size-fits-all” curriculum, the teacher brings individualized goal-setting, flexible grouping, and choice into the classroom — what educators call “differentiated instruction.”

Reading Rockets has put together a wonderful set of Webcast that range from developing good reading comprehension skills to Teaching English Language Learners to Read.
